MIAMI, FL – JANUARY 26, 2023 – DigitalReef, a leading global mobile marketing and Connected TV (CTV) technology company, announced a strategic partnership with Gamers Club, the largest gaming community hub in Latin America. This partnership launches DigitalReef into the world of online gaming and will focus DigitalReef’s innovative platform capabilities on the needs of game publishers, gamers, and other industry stakeholders throughout the region.
This partnership will be focused on:
- Driving awareness and acquiring new users of games for game studios and publishers in Brazil and Latin America.
- Connecting with gaming audiences and using DigitalReef platform capabilities, engaging with them on their device of choice both in-game and on the go.
- Developing advanced gaming-specific data products and capabilities, focused on the needs of gaming studios, publishers, and brands seeking to connect with those audiences across both mobile and CTV.
During the past five years, Latin America’s gaming industry has exploded, with key markets such as Brazil, Mexico, and Chile leading regional revenue growth with US$1.3 Billion, US$1.2 Billion, and US$354 Million, respectively, and significant on-going growth expected in these and other LATAM markets in the years ahead.
The rise of gaming is tightly linked to the rise in mobile device use. The region has seen a sharp increase in mobile gaming, with 58% of Latin Americans already playing games on their mobile devices. Mobile gaming’s low barrier to entry and high accessibility appeals to players in key markets like Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia. Experts believe that over the next year, mobile will account for 48% of Latin America’s gaming revenue. Through this new partnership, DigitalReef and Gamers Club position themselves at the epicenter of these convergent trends.
Game publishers will now have access to exclusive opportunities to promote downloads, engagement and monetization for their game titles and franchises across CTV and mobile platforms. These opportunities are supported by DigitalReef’s close partnerships with carriers and applications across LATAM.
“Every element of our strategy and every stakeholder we serve – ranging from our carrier and publisher partners to brands and end-users, benefit from our partnership with Gamers Club,” explains Mark Yackanich, President and COO of DigitalReef. Yackanich added, “DigitalReef intends to leverage our technology, unique data, and analytical capabilities to deliver customers enhanced distribution, monetization and audience engagement tools. Having partnered with Gamers Club, DigitalReef will create more topical and customized content while delivering an innovative new set of benefits for video game studios and publishers.”
Gamers Club CEO Yuri “Fly” Uchiyama added, “At Gamers Club, our partners are key to our success in building and fostering community. This partnership creates an exciting opportunity for companies looking to penetrate the growing gaming community throughout Latin America by providing not only better advertising placements, but more efficient access to an important audience segment – on the right device at the right time. This partnership is a win/win/win – for DigitalReef, our commercial partners, Gamers Club, and, most importantly, our community members.”
“Simply put, this represents more clients and more reach. By partnering with Gamers Club, we’re expanding our network to now explicitly include the gaming community. More advertisers will be able to reach and engage the desired customer,” says Chris Stier, Chief Commercial Officer of DigitalReef.
An array of market participants, ranging from game studios to carriers and publishers, also expressed enthusiasm about the potential value unlocked by this new partnership.
Renan Phillip, CEO of 3C, states, “At 3C, we know the mobile market is an interesting space for companies to connect with their audience. Our company was founded with a deep understanding of the mobile market, and we have been fortunate to have the support of influencers like Nobru, who is well-known in the mobile gaming space. Gamers Club’s partnership with DigitalReef is a smart move to target the right users through advertising. We’re excited to see Gamers Club entering this space and making the most of this opportunity.”
Diego Martinez, General Manager for Riot Games in Brazil, said, “At Riot Games, we seek to enhance the players’ experience so that it is always the best possible, so it’s exciting to observe the movements of our partners in search of the development and stimulation of new platforms – mainly mobile, the one most used by the gamer community in Brazil.”
Claudia Demase, Director at Terra & Vivo Ads, part of Telefónica, explained, “Terra Game On, a content section of our portal, broke the record of more than one million monthly users. This demonstrates the massive interest of our audience in the universe of gaming.” Demase continued, “According to a recent survey we conducted on gaming habits of our audience, we found that the smartphone is the main platform they use to play games, surpassing consoles and computers. This group spends an average of six hours a day playing games, and often spends money on digital goods and other in-game resources. Overall, this new partnership presents a lot of opportunities for advertisers interested in further captivating consumers who game.”
DigitalReef and Gamers Club said jointly that, “DigitalReef and Gamers Club see immense opportunity as the digital consumption economy continues to grow in Latin America and, in particular, as gaming continues to emerge as the dominant segment in media and entertainment. This announcement represents only the beginning of our planned collaboration as we invest together in new ways to unlock value for existing and new stakeholders.”
