Why Your 2023 Marketing Plan Needs to include Mobile and CTV

DigitalReef ushers in 2023 with a growing and powerful portfolio of solutions that enable publishers, carriers, manufacturers and brands to optimize their monetization and advertising efforts across Mobile and Connected TV (CTV). 

In 2022 we increased our mobile device reach by 57% to more than 550 million registered devices. In addition, the company had a 50% increase in active advertisers and increased our Connected TV revenues by 122%. We also boasted a 62% growth in the number of daily ad opportunities on CTV.

And we won’t be slowing down anytime soon. 

As we have turned our calendars over to 2023, we wanted to share a few ways the DigitalReef ecosystem can be a part of your 2023 marketing strategy. 

Connected TV connects audiences 

Our largest acquisition to date was bringing in the Connected Television SSP, Ad Server and Exchange platform Column6

Column6 enabled DigitalReef to target a rapidly expanding market opportunity not only in CTV devices, but also in OTT, mainly on Advertising-based video on demand (AVOD) and Free/Ad-Supported TV (FAST) services. Column6’s technology brought together the Latin American mobile ecosystem and the North American streaming and broadcast markets for DigitalReef.  By 2025, the US is forecasted to spend more than $30B on CTV ads, an increase of over 233% from the $9B spent in 2020. Global CTV impressions in 2020 increased 60% year over year and Connected TV accounted for 40% of all video impressions, up from 31% in 2019.

Column6 has built a one-of-a-kind platform to solve three unnecessarily common problems: 1) Reaching unique audiences at scale; 2) Doing so on premium CTV inventory; 3) Measuring and reporting results in a precise and intuitive way. One of Column6’s differentiators is that the platform focuses on products for publishers. This makes for happier publishers and better prices for advertisers – ultimately generating value for all the CTV value chain. 

Building an integrated and immersive mobile platform

In 2022 we brought together the immersive mobile technologies behind DigitalReef into one platform called DR-One. We have committed ourselves to rolling out a comprehensive AdOps product that carriers, manufacturers, publishers and brands can utilize for their mobile advertising and monetization strategies.

Global mobile ad spend is increasing by double-digit rates each year. Forecasters projected that in 2022, mobile advertising spending would reach a record of $327.1 billion U.S. dollars worldwide, which is an increase of 17.2% from 2021. That total is projected to climb to nearly $399.6 billion by 2024.

As a unified company we need to ensure that all our customers have the best experience we can offer. In the last quarter of 2022 alone, our teams added new features such as granular impression capping, notification center, customizable blocklists and more.

Opening a new engagement channel

DigitalReef completed the acquisition of Vyng, which has developed a technology to engage mobile users with contextual content on their mobile device’s lock screen. This content appears on a device’s lock screen with every phone call, message, and notification. Businesses that utilize the Vyng technology can increase answer rates to their calls by up to 70 percent. 

This is yet another example of our on-going commitment to enable a truly premium approach to mobile-first advertising strategies.

Connecting to 2023 

As we look ahead to what’s in store for 2023 and beyond, we see a world that is increasingly centered around users’ online experience on Connected TVs and on the mobile device. Whether it be a switch to 5G-based home internet; the continued depositioning of traditional cable and satellite television; or the expanding number of people that have the smartphone as their primary device to access the internet and consume online video content.
